I hate my spine so much. If I have to stand up for longer than 15 minutes it’s pretty painful, which effectively makes all subway rides ever pretty much excruciating, esp. considering there are no fucking seats left by the time the train gets to my stop and I don’t look disabled so it would be offensive to ask to sit down.
jesus christ why is this my life

My Discourse Analysis professor just asked me if I would like to be one of her research assistants. I can’t even describe how overjoyed I am; I’m not even a linguistics major, but this will tie in well with my English major. I’m hoping I can do some historical linguistics research on Middle English eventually, and having this experience will surely help me a lot.
PLUS IT WILL BE FUN.

So right now I’m sitting for my regular and his friend is here from Moscow; he speaks very little English, but every once in a while I catch a Russian word I understand. Children speaking Russian has to be the cutest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

Applying to the interdisciplinary program at my university soon. I’m pretty sure I’m settled on calling my program “Medieval Studies with a concentration in Medieval English History”, but I’m sure I’ll be adjusting as I get deeper into it.

A WHITE ROSE FOR THE HOUSE OF YORK AND MY WORM

My great great grandfather Edward Midcalf. It’s funny to see him relatively young and looking so willful— all the photographs I’ve seen of him before were taken a few years before his death. He lived to be nearly 100, just like all the Midcalfs.
TOUGH AS FUQ.

My great great grandmother’s brother. I found this photograph of him, along with the rest of the family, on ancestry.com last night. I managed to trace my great great grandmother’s family back to Dunnington, Yorkshire, in the 18th century. But anyway, when I first saw it I immediately recognized him as the same person in a tintype photograph I found in my house as a child. I always wondered who it was.
I should scan the tintype at some point..
